Screening Young Adults with Unexplained Pancreatitis for High Triglycerides

Familial chylomicronemia syndrome (FCS) is a rare genetic disease that causes high levels of triglycerides and chylomicrons. Unfortunately, some patients will go undetected for the simple reason that triglycerides are not routinely tested in children and it may not be til they are young adults that the signs of FCS begin to show (i.e., pancreatitis).
