Imaging and Treatment of Patients with Fibromuscular Dysplasia (FMD)

JUNE 27, 2014

Javier Romero MD of Massachusetts General Hospital recently sat down with Rare Disease Report to explain the importance of imaging to diagnose and treat fibromuscular dysplasia (FMD).

FMD is a rare disease in which abnormal cell growth occurs in one or more arteries in the body.  Arteries that often develop FMD are the renal and/or carotid arteries. Treatment often involves the insertion of a stent to improve blood flow.
