Communicating Newborn Screening Results

Getting a ‘positive’ result from a newborn screening test can be a very stressful to parents. Dr. George Diaz, associate professor of Genetics and Genomic Sciences at Mount Sinai in New York, NY explains the procedures they have in place to notify parents of the results that are appropriate for the disease in question.

In many cases, timely intervention can lead to a significant reduction of morbidity, mortality, and associated disabilities in affected infants.
