Melinda Freeman is the mother of a 14-year-old boy who has profound hearing loss 2 years removed from a successful cancer treatment.

As Freeman explains in this video, the loss of hearing has dramatically affected her son’s life. While he was once a gregarious, out-going boy, he is now lonely and frustrated because he can not keep up with the conversations of his classmates or the lessons of his teachers during class.
