Hearing Aids and Parental Concerns

At the 49th Congress of the International Society of Paediatric Oncology held in Washington D.C., October 12-15, Rare Disease Report spoke with Ryan Tierney, the father of a child who developed hearing loss as a result of the chemotherapy used to treat her cancer.

As Tierney explains in this video, the added stigma of hearing loss to an already stigmatized child is of great concern.

Studies are underway to reduce the risk of hearing loss following cisplatin treatment in children with cancer.
