What Clinicians Need to Know About Lipodystrophy

At the Global Genes Patient Advocacy Summit in Irvine California, we talked with Andra Stratton of Lipodystrophy United about her concerns that clinicians tend to focus on the metabolic aspects of lipodystrophy while not necessarily addressing the fact that this disease affects all organs of the body.

Lipodystrophy is a group of rare diseases characterized by the lack of fat tissue. It can be a widespread lack of fat tissue under the skin (generalized lipodystrophy) or a limited lack of fat tissue (partial lipodystrophy).
