Want to shop and support ovarian cancer research? This Saturday, proceeds from shopping on QVC will go towards Ovarian Cancer Research Fund Alliance (OCRFA).
The annual charity sale scheduled for Saturday, July 29 at 2 PM (ET) will include donated designer accessories, apparel, beauty, jewelry and more that will be offered at half the manufacturer's suggested retail price, with 80% of the purchase price benefitting OCRFA.
Ovarian cancer is a rare cancer that is often difficult to detect in its early stages. By the time symptoms appear, it is often in the later stages where the tumor as metastasized. The National Cancer Institute estimates that 22,280 women will be diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2016 and an estimated 14,240 will die of this disease.
"Each summer, the funds raised through 'QVC Presents Super Saturday LIVE' bring us one step closer to eradicating this deadly disease," said Doug Rose, Senior Vice President of Brand and Communications for QVC in a news release
Now in its 11th
year, the sale had brought in more than $11.5 million to the rare cancer organizations.
This year, actress Alyssa Milano and her friend, and ovarian cancer survivor, Kelly Kall, will be part of the show and share their experience.
"For more than a decade, OCRFA and QVC have joined forces to help raise awareness of ovarian cancer," said
Audra Moran, President and CEO, OCRFA. "This year, we are honored to be joined by Alyssa Milano and Kelly Kall, who have graciously agreed to share their personal connection to this horrible disease. It is our hope that their story and message will heighten awareness of this deadly disease."
In addition to the donations from sale items, shoppers will be invited to donate $1, with 100% of the donation supporting OCRFA.
