On February 4th
, 4-year-old Leah Carroll sang along to Mandisa’s song “Overcomer”.
That moment was posted on Facebook live by her mother on Leah’s facebook page, Prayers and Love for Leah
. At the time, Lean had spent months in the hospital being treated for a rare disease she was born with, congenital neutropenia.
That Facebook live post has been seen over 8 million times.
People with severe congenital neutropenia have a shortage deficiency of neutrophils, resulting in them bein very susceptible to infections. In March 2016, Leah had her second bone marrow transplant to treat the condition and since then, she has been in the hospital.
Leah’s Facebook page “Prayers and Love for Leah” provides updates on her condition as well as provides information for Be The Match
, a national marrow donor program.
Mandisa Visits Leah
Last week, singer Mandisa paid a visit to Leah in her hospital room at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital Oakland. And Mandisa also posted the visit on Facebook live to continue the awareness.
Following the visit with Leah, Mandisa held a private concert at Leah's church that helped raise $3,600 for Be the Match.
And the video that started all of this is below.
